Reading-Language Preference User Guide
Overview
Reading-Language Preference lets you choose your preferred reading language once and have the translate page remember and apply it from then on. Instead of picking a target language every time you open a record's translation, you set your preference and the page defaults to it automatically. You can change it whenever you like, and the new choice becomes the remembered preference. It makes reading records in your own language effortless across visits.
What it does
This feature makes your translation choice persistent so you do not have to repeat it:
- It lets you set a preferred reading language once.
- It has the translate page remember that preference, so it is applied automatically the next time you read a record.
- It applies the preference by default, pre-selecting your language instead of leaving the picker unset each time.
- It lets you change the preference at any time, with the latest choice becoming the one that is remembered.
- It removes the repetitive step of choosing a target language on every record, smoothing the read-in-your-language experience.
The aim is convenience: choose your language once, and the platform keeps reading records in it for you.
How to use it
- Open a record's translation page from the record view.
- Choose your reading language in the language picker as you normally would.
- The translate page remembers that choice as your preferred reading language.
- On the next record you open for translation, the page applies your preferred language automatically.
- To switch, simply pick a different language - the new choice replaces the remembered preference.
Good to know
- The preference is about which language to read in by default; it does not change any stored record, only the translated view you see at read time.
- Changing your language on any record updates the remembered preference, so the most recent choice always wins.
- Translations are produced by an AI service through the AHG AI gateway and are a strong aid to understanding, but they are not a substitute for an authoritative human translation where precision matters - check the original in formal, legal, or publication contexts.
- The original text remains available alongside the translation, so nothing is hidden behind your preferred language.
- Which languages are available depends on the gateway's configured models; if a language is not offered, it has not been enabled for translation on this site.
- Access rules still apply - you can only translate records you are permitted to view.
